HR managers from ESCP’s company network virtually meet more than 800 young talents during the 3-day Career Fair organised by Turin Campus.

The ESCP Turin Campus first-ever Virtual Career Fair was an excellent opportunity for students from all ESCP campuses to meet recruiters from a variety of industries, to get job leads, to collect lots of information, and new network contacts.

From the 10th to the 12th of February, recruiters from the most important Italian and international brands virtually met more than 800 ESCP students, from all our Campuses.

We would have loved to have organised the event in a blended formula, but it was not possible. So we embraced this difficult moment and transformed the challenge posed by the pandemic into new opportunities, by giving the same chances to all ESCP students wherever they were based and exponentially expanding the number of students participating in the job fair - explains Erica Brignolo, Head of Corporate Relations & Partnerships of ESCP Turin Campus -. The online format has allowed the attendance of a much higher number of young talents than in previous years, leading to a total of more than 800 participants. Compared to 2020 we have recorded a + 33% attendance”.

As an international business school with students worldwide, ESCP is always looking for new ways to link its community of students and alumni with top and fast-growing companies.

Before choosing the tools to create this event, the Career Service team met with many companies to satisfy their needs and the request of the majority was to aim for effectiveness by favouring exchange sessions in plenary and scheduled meeting moments.

The 2021 Career Fair in Numbers

This led to surprising results in terms of numbers:

  • 826 students
  • 44 companies
  • 108 recruiters
  • 132 jobs posted
  • 2190 applications received
  • 44 events (Company Testimonials, Round Tables Q&A Sessions)

The Career Fair welcomed a significant number of companies from a variety of sectors and industries, such as Finance (16%), Information Technology (14%), Consulting (11%), Automotive and Aerospace. The most represented sector, however, was Consumer Goods (30%), headed by Food & Beverage companies with 7 brands - attracted by the ESCP Master in International Food & Beverage Management and by the MIM specialisation in Food and Beverage launched in this academic year.

The 2021 Career Fair hosted many international firms competing to find the ideal candidate for both internships and permanent jobs.

Benefits of Virtual Career Fair

The world has been in pandemic mode for more than a year, and many companies have turned to virtual career fairs as a hiring strategy.

This online edition of the Career Fair engaged a larger number of students, who could participate from everywhere in the world and showcased the huge potential of talent acquisition in the digital age, expanding opportunities to connect and reducing the cost drastically, in terms of money and time, for both the candidates and recruiters.

The job fair gave students valuable insights into brand culture, career path and hiring process through Q&A Sessions, Company Testimonials, Round Tables, and Interviews.

While not new, the concept of virtual recruiting became dominant due to the spread of Covid-19. Despite lacking in-person interaction, this format revealed many benefits. According to some career experts, it is here to stay even after the pandemic, keeping 80% of recruiting virtual for the foreseeable future.
