L'ORÉAL 'BIG PICTURE' PROJECT
Thanks to our close partnership with L'Oréal, selected MSc in Marketing & Creativity students collaborate with MSc in Digital Transformation Management & Leadership (MDT) students in the annual L'Oréal Big Picture project.
Over an intensive week, you will work in teams to create an original video based on a brief from L'Oréal executives. The themes, ranging from culture to business to philosophical ideas, are designed to inspire creativity and innovation within a brand. On the final day, teams present their videos and analytical work to a jury, which includes L'Oréal executives, talent recruiters, media leaders, and ESCP faculty.
All students are encouraged to apply for participation in the Big Picture project. Participants are selected on the basis of their motivation and career interests - a unique chance to showcase your creativity to one of the world's most iconic brands and to interact with their headhunters.
Company Consultancy Projects - Term 3
Sept - Nov: 6- to 8-week experiential learning project with a company
The Company Consultancy Project (CCP) is a cornerstone of the MSc in Marketing & Creativity, offering students a unique opportunity to work on real-world marketing challenges.
The Company Consultancy Project (CCP) is a key and integrated element of the specialisation, designed to provide students with a collaborative learning experience and demonstrate, in a real-world application, the concepts and tools studied in class.
This hands-on project connects theory with practice, allowing you to apply the concepts and tools learned in class to solve complex marketing problems for real companies.
Working in multicultural teams, you will spend 6-8 weeks conducting an in-depth analysis of a marketing issue faced by a partner company or start-up. At the end of the project, your team will present a set of actionable recommendations that the company can implement to solve the challenge.
This experience will challenge you to apply creative approaches to solve problems while providing valuable insight into the inner workings of a company. You’ll also have the chance to work with one of ESCP's diverse corporate partners, offering you exposure to leading brands and industries.
Previous topics for Company Consultancy Projects have included:
- Explore innovative ways AI can be integrated into a luxury beauty brand's strategy.
- Shift perceptions of wigs from a social stigma to a symbol of empowerment for women suffering from hair loss with a global marketing consultancy.
- What is a special offer and discount alternative? Come up with an innovative sales promotion strategy or a new business model that will enable a fashion brand to pursue sustainable growth while reducing its discounts.
- Accelerate the performance of luxury fashion brand in several African markets by exploring new ways of selling online.
- Create a business model for a sonic branding agency which puts music at the service of brands in a new way.
Professional Mission - Term 4
Jan - Jun: a minimum 4-month professional mission in the form of an in-company internship or direct employment
At the heart of the MSc in Marketing & Creativity is the required minimum four-month professional experience (full-time job / internship), during which students work in a marketing role within a client company.
You will develop job-seeking skills from the beginning of the programme with the professional support of specialists in the European Careers Center and the Alumni Association.
Exposure to real-life business culture both challenges and strengthens the skills and knowledge acquired in the MSc in Marketing & Creativity curriculum, and will solidify your profile as a successful international marketer.
While carrying out your work placement, you will also develop a professional thesis based on original research, on a topic of your choice and normally related to your chosen career.
The European Careers Centre
The European Careers Centre is dedicated to gathering placement offers from many companies. The team also organises fairs, company visits and on-campus events throughout term time, giving you many opportunities to make contact.
PROFESSIONAL THESIS & RESEARCH SEMINAR – TERM 4
Jan - Jun: Writing and defending a Professional Thesis
You will select a research topic of particular interest for analysis. Managerial recommendations are prepared using clear, logical argumentation and drawing upon academic theory, original desk research, interviews, or a case study carried out during their assignment.
Each thesis project is supervised and guided by a member of the Faculty or expert in the relevant field. You are encouraged to pick a topic of personal interest or one highly relevant to their career plan, stepping outside of the day-to-day work you are performing in your internship and thinking about how the issue relates to broader concepts and to other sectors and types of companies.
At the end of the programme, a written thesis is submitted. A viva voce oral examination is also held at which the research is presented to and assessed by an academic jury.
During this time, students will also participate in a mandatory Research Seminar held by an ESCP professor. This seminar represents 3 ECTS credits.
Some of the previous professional thesis topics included:
- The Illusion of Exclusivity: How Scarcity Marketing, Premium Strategies and Exclusionary Practices Fuel Overconsumption and Alienate Society in the Age of Sustainability

- Exploring the Potential of Empathy in CRM Practices to Optimise Experiences in the Beauty Meta-Phygital Universe
Alumni Testimonials
"My Company Consultancy Project was with the L'Oréal Paris' Digital Team. The project presented a challenging case study that required in-depth analysis and creative problem-solving. Through regular consultations with our mentor and several L'Oréal team members, we gained a deep understanding of the complexities of the beauty industry and the digital landscape.
"Academically, the insights I gained directly informed my thesis on beauty tech and related topics, providing a practical foundation for my research. Professionally, the project opened doors to an incredible opportunity: after our final presentation, the L’Oréal team offered me a six-month internship in their team. This internship then proved instrumental in securing my current permanent position within L'Oréal's digital team in London.
"The CCP truly bridged the gap between theory and practice, equipping me with the skills and experience to thrive in this dynamic industry."
